When you first open the AuthNext app, you will be prompted to select a folder to save your account information. Your data will be encrypted and saved in a file with the extension .authnext.
No. Your data remains in the folder you selected. Please refer to our Privacy Policy for more information.
If you have installed AuthNext on multiple computers and want to keep them synced with the same data file, you can select a cloud-drive folder to save your data file. For instance, if you have two MacBooks, you can choose to save the data file in "iCloud Drive" (or "Dropbox") and then let both AuthNext apps use the same data file. With these settings, if you change accounts on one MacBook, the other will receive the update.
If you have "Auto Backup" enabled in the settings, a backup file such as "backup-20250116-050607.authnext" will be created when the account list is changed. If you want to restore data to this version, you can quit the application first, then rename this file to "data.authnext", then restart the application. Now your application will automatically read and load accounts from this "data.authnext".
